What You'll Learn
Once you complete this course, you have the qualification required to register as a celebrant, and once registered by the AG’s department – you can then legally perform a wide array of Celebrancy services including Weddings, Baby Naming and Funeral Services.
Once you have received your CHC41015 – Certificate IV in Celebrancy certificate, you can contact the Attorney General’s Department to obtain an application package to become registered as a marriage celebrant. Units completed for this qualification meet the requirements of the Registrar of Marriage Celebrants, as set out in regulation 37G(2) of the Marriage Regulations 1963.

Duration and Study Load

The Certificate IV in Celebrancy course comprises 13 modules that can be studied through self-paced online learning or Zoom Face-to-Face Classroom. Weekly drop in sessions with our trainers are also included for the duration of your course – so you can get timely assistance for any questions you may have along the way.
Delivery
This course can be studied in various different ways, including:
- A five day Face to Face Zoom Classroom (Monday – Friday) + portfolio of work* (online study)
- Five consecutive Saturdays Face to Face Zoom Classroom + portfolio of work* (online study)
- Evening classes – 9 evening sessions over three consecutive Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening Face to Face Zoom Classroom + portfolio of work* (online study)

Graduating from the Certificate IV Celebrancy enables one to apply to become a licenced Celebrant with the Attorney General’s department.
Becoming a successful Celebrant, or running a successful celebrancy business requires some additional skills that a student may or may not have.
Starting a business, effective marketing strategies, standout presentation skills and online wedding production, are some essential celebrancy skills to help you kickstart your business.

Assessment
For both Online and Zoom Face-to-Face Classroom students – there is a portfolio of work to be completed in students’ own time. Students are given 12 months to complete this portfolio but may hand in their work at any time within a 12 month period. The Zoom Face-to-Face Classroom Workshops (either 5 days over 1 week, or over 5 consecutive Saturdays or 9 evening sessions) give Rose Training’s Celebrancy students a solid foundation by having our experienced tutors deliver and explain the most up to date information needed to complete the Certificate IV in Celebrancy. This is followed by up to 12 months of supported online study, and other face-to-face workshops or assessment events where needed. The volume of learning for the Certificate IV in Celebrancy is typically completed in six months to one year.
About the portfolio of work
This portfolio is an essential aspect of reinforcing your learning and consists of around 40% of your assessments. There is no new information given during this portfolio; it is a fortifying activity where students apply the skills learned in the course to eight case studies, mainly in order to practise how to complete the legal paperwork correctly.
