The Certificate IV in Leisure and Health is a nationally recognised qualification that equips you to design, implement, and evaluate leisure and health activities and programs for clients in residential facilities, community agencies, or day centres.

Duration and Study Load
- This course will be approximately to 6-14 months in duration depending on RPL, Credit Transfer and individual needs of the learners and practical placement arrangements. The actual course duration will depend on when learners are able to complete their compulsory practical placement
Delivery
This course is delivered via a combination of-
- Virtual Face to Face Training Sessions 1 day a week
- 16 hours per week of self-paced flexible learning including completion of assignments
- 1:1 coaching to provide all the support you need
- 120 hours of mandatory practical placement
(Please note that practical placement is a mandatory component of the course completion and may be impacted by COVID should restrictions or government directives prohibit student placement in workplaces such as aged care facilities)
Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisites to gain entry into CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, however you must;
- Be over 18 years of age
- Obtain a police check/certificate prior to practical placement
- Willing and physically fit to do practical placement
- Undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment that the appropriate support can be provided and or sourced
Language Literacy and Numeracy
The minimum LLN requirements for this course are listed below.
The Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment tool utilised by Aged Care Training Services is mapped to the ACSF. All learners are required to complete the LLN Assessment prior to enrolment. These are assessed by a TAE40116 (or equivalent) qualified trainer assessor prior to commencing classes, to determine each learner’s overall ACSF level.
The LLN assessment will indicate whether the learner meets the levels required to:
- undertake the qualification or,
- will be able to complete the program with some support, or
- will need further skills to ensure they meet the LLN skills to successfully participate in the program. Leaners who identify as needing more language, literacy and numeracy skills will be referred to ESL training or similar training as required
The skills gaps identified in the LLN assessment assists to determine the support need for each learner before the commencement of the course.
Learners complete questions which relate to learning, reading, writing and numeracy as well as self-assessment
Work Placement
- Practical Placement is an important part of your course- 120 hours of practical placement is required to achieve your qualification. It is a great opportunity to put all your knowledge into action and showcase your skills to a perspective employer
- We arrange your placement for you!. We always aim to organise placement for you in a workplace that is aligned with your individual needs and aspirations and if possible conveniently located
- When individuals are undertaking placement they must wear a student uniform at all times. You will be required to dress in the attire as directed by the facility where the complete practical placement. We provide all learners with an ACTS polo shirt and name badge. Any requirements over and above this (such as pants and shoes, you will be required to organise for yourself and is not provided to you by ACTS
